BEST SUMMER DESTINATIONS

Although at Cooperating Volunteers we work year-round in different destinations, there are some that allow us to fully enjoy them if the weather conditions are favorable.

Some time ago, we shared a blog post with the best destinations to travel to in winter, and today we are offering some options that we recommend for you to experience volunteering during the summer.

Additionally, in the summer, many people have vacation days, and as our way of traveling shifts towards a more responsible world, experiencing volunteering is an incredible option to enjoy during those days of relaxation.

BALI

This island, which is part of Indonesia, is also known as the ‘Island of the Gods’ and a highly visited destination throughout the year. This destination is a blend of adventure, relaxation, leisure, landscapes, and culture…

Famous for its white sand beaches, terraced rice paddies, mystical temples, and vibrant spiritual life, Bali offers a unique experience. Beyond its natural beauty, the island is a center of Balinese culture, where traditional ceremonies, sacred dances, and the special warmth of its people create an unforgettable atmosphere.

And although it is a destination visited by many throughout the year, if what you’re looking for is to enjoy good weather with sunny days and little rain, the best period is between May and September, which falls within the dry season.

July and August are the most visited months on the island, so it’s likely that everything will be busier, but you can still enjoy the destination.

In a blog post, we shared some must-dos in Bali in case you choose it as your volunteering destination. We particularly recommend this time of year, as many water activities are available, local festivals like ‘Galungan’ and ‘Kuningan’ are celebrated, hikes to Mount Batur are safer with the dry path, and there is vibrant life everywhere.

In summary, Bali in the summer combines the perfect weather with culture, adventure, beaches, and relaxation. It’s the ideal destination whether you’re seeking excitement or just want to unwind.

UGANDA

Uganda is a country located in East Africa, covering an area of 241,550 km² and positioned in a strategic region of the continent. Its official name is the Republic of Uganda, and it borders several countries: to the north with South Sudan, to the west with the Democratic Republic of the Congo, to the south with Rwanda and Tanzania, and to the east with Kenya. Its capital, Kampala, is located near Lake Victoria, which covers one-eighth of Uganda’s territory.

The country boasts a rich geography with several important lakes, including Victoria, Albert, Kyoga, and Edward. Despite lacking access to the sea, Uganda enjoys a tropical climate with unique characteristics, such as the same amount of daylight hours year-round due to its location on the equator.

The best time to visit Uganda is during the dry season, which is divided into two periods. One of them, from June to September, has slightly cooler temperatures but still remains pleasant and dry. This is the perfect season for gorilla trekking and safari trips.

Find everything you need about Uganda on our website, and don’t miss the chance to visit a country with so much to offer.

PERU

Peru is a country located in the western part of South America, with an area of 1,285,215 km², making it the third-largest country on the continent. Its territory is characterized by extraordinary geographical diversity, ranging from the Pacific Ocean coast to the Amazon rainforest, passing through the imposing Andes Mountains. The country is traditionally divided into three main regions: coast, highlands, and jungle.

Peruvian history has deep roots, starting with the Caral Civilization, considered the first civilization of the Americas. Later, important cultures emerged, such as Chavín, Moche, Nazca, and finally the Inca Empire, which dominated a vast territory until the arrival of Spanish conquerors in the 16th century. For this reason, it is a very popular destination annually due to its rich cultural heritage and dreamlike landscapes.

If you’ve chosen Peru as your volunteering destination, the dry season is highly recommended.

The best months for the Andean and Amazon regions are between May and October. For the coastal area, it is recommended from December to April.

Peru awaits you to leave you speechless.

KENYA

Kenya is a country located in East Africa, with an area of 591,958 km² and a population of 47.6 million people. It borders South Sudan and Ethiopia to the north, Somalia to the northeast, Uganda to the west, Tanzania to the south, and has an extensive 536 km coastline along the Indian Ocean.

The country boasts impressive geographical diversity, including a central plateau, tropical coast, semi-desert areas, mountains, and forests. Mount Kenya, which gives the country its name, is the second-highest mountain in Africa, located north of Nairobi at an altitude of 5,199 meters.

Kenya is extremely diverse, with 44 different ethnic groups. The main groups include the Kikuyu, who are engaged in agriculture, and the Maasai, known as pastoralists and cattle herders. Swahili and English are the official languages, reflecting the country’s colonial and multicultural heritage.

It is one of the star destinations for Cooperating Volunteers, and thousands of people choose it each year to live their volunteering experience. While the climate varies by region, the best time to visit the country is during the dry season, from June to October. The days are sunny and dry, with pleasant temperatures.

This is the ideal time for safaris, especially in Maasai Mara, where you can witness the Great Migration of wildebeests (July to October). It’s also perfect for exploring other national parks like Amboseli, Tsavo, or Lake Nakuru. Visibility is clear, making it easier to spot animals, and the trails are more accessible.

It’s peak season, so you’ll find more tourists, but also more options for activities and accommodations.

These are just a few of our suggestions, but the world is full of amazing destinations for you to travel to year-round, where you can explore, relax, and enjoy your free time.

At Cooperating Volunteers, we await you around the world.

UNIVERSITY PRACTICES

Our volunteers will be able to validate university credits with the aim of traveling in a more responsible and economical way.

What does volunteering focused on university practices involve?

At Cooperating Volunteers, we make agreements with different universities to validate university credits with the aim of traveling in a more responsible and economical way.

The specialties we work with are extensive: medical volunteering, nursing, education, social work, psychology, physiotherapy, engineering, architecture…

The practices can be carried out in our designated destinations for this purpose, as well as in Spain.

If you choose an international destination, it’s a unique way to live an unforgettable and enriching experience, as you will have the opportunity to continue your education in another country, with a completely different culture.

Stepping out of our comfort zone and being part of the various projects at the destination will allow us to grow both personally and professionally, creating a more extensive curriculum.

And we are fully convinced that this experience will accompany you throughout your life.

You will be able to visit hospitals, schools, centers, orphanages, and participate directly and actively in the daily lives of all those people at the destination, always accompanied by other professionals willing to collaborate hand in hand with you and guide you in daily tasks.

If your university is not part of the agreement with Cooperating Volunteers, you can contact cristina@cooperatingvolunteers.com so that we can get in touch and make this experience a reality.

Therefore, it not only maximizes efficiency but also enriches the work environment.

We tailor projects to the corporate identity and size of the company, and we can adjust them to any destination and time of the year.

The advantages of corporate volunteering include:

  • Improving communication.

  • Employee training.
  • Increased Corporate Social Responsibility.

The future is aligned with a more responsible society, and participating in social projects positions our company among the list of revolutionary businesses that want to be part of the change.

FAMILY VOLUNTEERING

Quality time spent with family strengthens emotional bonds, promotes communication, and contributes to the emotional well-being of its members.

Spending quality time with family and being able to disconnect from our hectic routines is not only enriching but also necessary.

Sometimes we forget to communicate, connect, and dedicate time to each other. Each one of us lives focused on our jobs, schools… And it’s necessary to find the opportunity to pause and take care of ourselves.

Quality time spent with family strengthens emotional bonds, promotes communication, and contributes to the emotional well-being of its members. And of course, it creates lifelong positive memories.

At Cooperating Volunteers, we suggest moving away from those ‘more superficial’ trips (which can also be fantastic), but we invite you to live this experience to bring out our most empathetic and humanitarian side.

Family volunteering gives us the opportunity to be part of a positive impact, promoting values of solidarity and social responsibility.

There are many families who choose to experience these trips focused on cooperation and direct involvement with different communities around the world, where living conditions are very different and sometimes entirely precarious.

Projects are tailored to different ages, allowing us to work together.

An incredible way to fill our suitcase with memories, learning, and knowledge.

And although stepping out of our comfort zone often feels daunting, we assure you firsthand that it’s worth it.

At Cooperating Volunteers, we accompany you throughout the entire experience, from start to finish, to make it unforgettable.

SENIOR VOLUNTEERING

At Cooperating Volunteers, we believe it’s never too late for anything, especially for volunteering and living a unique and unforgettable experience.

There are many people, increasingly so, who opt for responsible travel that involves social work.

Accustomed to organized and mostly touristic trips, at Cooperating Volunteers, we want to advocate for a more enriching experience, one that transforms us from within and allows us to be part of the change the world needs to see.

We can adapt both the destination and the duration of our projects to fit your needs.

It’s an opportunity full of emotions that allows us to significantly contribute to different communities and their evolution. And you can participate in different areas such as education, social support, or assistance in different centers.

Some of the benefits include:

  • Sense of purpose: Provides a sense of purpose by contributing your skills and experiences to meaningful causes.
  • Emotional well-being: Reduces feelings of isolation and establishes social connections.
  • Personal development: It’s continuous learning, skill development, and discovering new activities while keeping the mind-body active.
  • Physical health: Keeping active.
  • Stress reduction: The act of helping others reduces stress and contributes to mental health.

Living this experience will undoubtedly be a before and after.

SOCIAL VOLUNTEERING

A volunteering initiative with leadership and impact through the educational action program.

When we talk about social volunteering, we refer to all those actions and activities carried out altruistically, selflessly, and with the aim of addressing multiple problems and needs of different communities, always focused on education and self-sufficiency.

Education is essential because it provides the tools and knowledge necessary for personal, social, and economic development.

Our goal is to create self-sufficient communities and provide opportunities for the future personal development of each member. The message is not to ‘give’, but to accompany in the process of training for self-managed provision.

At Cooperating Volunteers, many of our destinations and projects embrace this type of volunteering. Some of our projects include: community programs, education, women’s empowerment…

And although they are completely different from each other, they share a single objective: progress towards a society that can embrace us all in the same way.

If you are someone who is restless, who needs to see a change in the future, volunteering is an experience tailor-made for you.
