Education is essential because it provides the knowledge and skills needed to function, contributing to personal and professional development, and fostering the social and economic progress of a society.
Unfortunately, not everyone has the same opportunities to access a decent education under the same conditions.
Many of our programs at Cooperating Volunteers are focused on her, with these projects we try to provide quality training together with all the local team, and in optimal conditions.
That is why since 2022 we embarked on the Brilliant Brains project.
Brilliant Brains is an infant and primary school located in Busokwa, Uganda. It started in 2016 with approximately 80 children and currently around 500 children attend classes.
The facilities where the children are accommodated are not the most adequate:
- The classrooms are glued to each other, in a deplorable state, with holes, nails, wood … and the material of the walls makes it possible
- to hear the class next door, thus constantly interrupting classes.
- The desks are scarce for the number of children, sometimes they end up sitting on the floor, and the benches are broken.
- The floors are raised, with potholes and stones, and this is very dangerous because the children go barefoot.
- The roof is made of aluminum and wood, which causes flooding and consequently the deterioration of all the material.
- The only source of light is the windows, so the classrooms are very dark, especially on cloudy days.
- This project was born from the need to improve these conditions to create a safe environment.
Cooperating NGO started a fundraising campaign to raise funds for the construction of 10 classrooms (3 for kindergarten and 7 for primary school) and to equip them with all the necessary materials.
We continue to create projects that are a path towards a fairer world that offers opportunities for everyone.
