These children, who are just starting school, have the fantastic opportunity to start to learn English at a young age, when it is easier for them to learn a new language.
As with most nurseries, the teaching style is informal. At this age, the children will prefer to play with you than be “taught”. However, just by making them want to come to school and by teaching them some very basic phrases in English (such as simple greetings), you may well have sown the seeds of a lifelong learning habit.
The children will be happy to see you, and will be hugely appreciative of your presence in their school; partly due to the natural friendliness of the local people, but also because you’ll be one of the few foreigners that they have the chance to meet.
This programme will not run during the school holidays (June, July, August and December) and other bank holidays. Alternative activities may include conservation and restoration tasks and working on a school camp.
Accommodation: The accommodation, which is located in Pejeng Kaja, has shared bedrooms. It also includes facilities and spacious communal areas, which makes it possible to interact with your fellow volunteers and make the most of your time in Bali.
