This project entails the volunteer teaching in various nurseries, with a special focus on assisting children in disadvantaged communities. You will be able to assist nursery teachers with extra-curricular activities and inspiring the children to reach their maximum potential, broadening their perspectives through creatively structured lessons.
Each nursery generally has 35 to 45 children aged between 3 and 6 years old. The nurseries are run by teachers and teaching support staff. The children learn basic English—the alphabet, numbers, rhymes, the names of different objects, etc. The majority of the children come from disadvantaged families who live beneath the poverty line.
The objective of this programme is to help the children improve their English and have more confidence when using it, which will prove to be helpful in a variety of ways in the future.
* Accommodation: the volunteer will stay in a volunteer accommodation house.
* Destination: rural areas, generally in Kathmandu.
