The Galapagos Islands are renowned worldwide for their diverse indigenous species of flora and fauna, both on land and in the sea.
The islands have garnered national and international attention, attracting numerous visitors in search of new employment opportunities. As a result, the current population is rapidly expanding.
This upsurge in tourism and population growth has had a significant impact on the islands. It has led to an increased demand for natural resources, including agriculture and fishing, as well as heightened needs for improved infrastructure, goods, and services. Consequently, this has resulted in higher levels of air, soil, and water (both fresh water and sea water) pollution, along with various public health issues.
For this reason, our volunteering program aims to promote and reinforce good community practices, contributing to the conservation of this natural paradise and preventing its destruction.
