If you love animals and volunteering, you’ve probably considered volunteering with wildlife at some point. Within the realm of wildlife, there are species facing extinction in many countries around the world. Working as a volunteer in one of these programs is incredibly valuable for conserving animal biodiversity. Wildlife is threatened by various factors, including habitat loss and human interference.
Wildlife Volunteer Programs
At Cooperating Volunteers, numerous programs with wildlife are carried out. The objective of these volunteer programs is to cooperate in the survival of these species. Volunteers work in caring for animals, conducting research, aiding in rehabilitation, raising awareness among the population, and more.
Wildlife volunteering at Cooperating Volunteers is primarily located across three continents. Some of the most prominent destinations include:
- In Latin America, wildlife volunteering stands out in Brazil and Ecuador. In Ecuador, you can participate in the Animal Rescue and Rehabilitation program. Volunteers work at the rescue center with the goal of rescuing and rehabilitating endangered animals that have been kept as pets, helping them reintegrate into their natural habitat. Alternatively, you can choose Brazil, where we have a Wildlife Conservation program. Here, volunteers work at a wildlife conservation center to promote the preservation of endangered species. They work with various animals including birds, reptiles, and mammals.
- Considering the significance of animals in Africa, one of our most distinctive programs is in South Africa. The program focuses on cheetah conservation. Volunteers prepare their food, educate the attending public, and for those staying longer, also assist in their rehabilitation and release.
- In Asia, programs related to animals are prominent. We offer an elephant conservation program in Sri Lanka and a panda conservation program in China. The panda conservation involves preparing their food, cleaning their enclosures, and ensuring their safety. In Sri Lanka, elephant conservation efforts include tasks for their survival. Notably, volunteers work in an orphanage, caring for orphaned elephant calves and those that have been injured.
