Water is an essential and indispensable resource, and while in many countries around the world access to it is easy, in others, it’s quite the opposite; access is limited and a major challenge for many communities.
That’s why it’s necessary to work on sustainable solutions and promote initiatives to improve water management in these regions, which are often neglected.
At Cooperating Volunteers, with the inauguration of Cooperating NGO, we are implementing a project located in Jambiani, Zanzibar, for the installation of water tanks.
Currently, they have a well that has greatly helped the population to avoid long journeys, but there are other challenges:
- The water from this well is available for only 4 hours a day and only in the morning, so there is no water throughout the day.
- The pipeline network is extensive, and sometimes the electrical power is not sufficient to generate enough pressure to reach the different points.
- Power cuts are common, and during those outages, access isn’t possible.
To address this problem, water tanks are starting to be installed, allowing water collection and therefore use when there is no access through the taps.
Being a partner of our NGO will enable projects of such importance to move forward.
