The main objective of volunteer projects taking place in Latin America is to train young people to become social leaders. Teamwork and cultural knowledge are encouraged. The focus is primarily on social inclusion, protection, and social action.
Volunteer Projects by Country
Argentina
Projects developed in Argentina are related to education. They work on the social inclusion of children through seven different programs: childcare, teaching, English teaching, medical, workshops, sports, and construction.
Brazil
In Brazil, projects focus on the social inclusion of children through care and education, as well as protection. In this case, protection is directed towards animals. The projects include wildlife conservation, teaching, community centers, childcare, and animal rescue.
Colombia
Colombia’s projects align with those of other countries. They advocate for social inclusion through education and also for social action, as demonstrated by environmental protection. Their programs include teaching, recreational activities, environmental protection, and childcare.
Costa Rica
Costa Rica is one of the countries in Latin America where the most projects are developed. They focus on education and the care of people with special needs, whether due to physical or mental disabilities or advanced age. The importance of animals, particularly turtles, and the provision of a careful and responsible environment for wild animals are also taken into account.
You’ll find the following programs: orphanage, assistance to people with disabilities, childcare, teaching, physical education, assistance to adults, turtle care and prevention, and care of wild animals.
Ecuador
Without neglecting the main focus of volunteer projects in Latin America, Ecuador expands to livestock and agriculture projects, as well as preserving cultural wealth, values, and traditions. If you’re interested, you can choose between programs such as animal rescue and rehabilitation, cultural and tourist preservation, childcare, teaching, and agriculture.
Guatemala
Guatemala exclusively maintains the main focus, the social inclusion of children in all areas through teaching, whether it be languages, carpentry workshops, or sports practice, etc. For this, you’ll find programs in teaching, school gardening, sports, and workshops.
Mexico
This country fulfills the three focuses of Latin American projects: social inclusion of children and people with special needs, as well as protection and social action with the permaculture project, contributing to a sustainable, equitable, and supportive society.
You can be part of it by selecting programs such as teaching, assistance to people with disabilities, permaculture, and medical assistance.
Nicaragua and Panama
These are the countries where fewer projects are carried out. However, all of them meet the country’s needs. In Nicaragua, projects focus on teaching and women’s development, while in Panama, they focus on teaching, working with animals, and another program that combines animals and conservation of natural resources.
Peru
In Peru, programs fall into line with the three main focuses of projects: social inclusion, protection, and social action. The programs you can participate in Peru include teaching, women’s empowerment, environment, animal rescue, and youth care.
